Settle Your Body
Let’s take some time to soothe your body. I want you to begin by slowing and deepening your breath. With every exhale, we’re going to focus our attention on a different part of your body, and imagine it deflating and collapsing in rhythm with your lungs. Take a few deep breaths to start, and when you’re ready…
Inhale…
Exhale. First, your toes.
Inhale…
Exhale. Now, your feet.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your ankles.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your lower legs.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your knees.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your upper legs.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your hips.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your abdomen.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your lower back.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your mid-back.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your chest.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your upper back.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your shoulders
Inhale…
Exhale. Your upper arms
Inhale…
Exhale. Your forearms
Inhale…
Exhale. Your hands.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your fingers.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your neck.
Inhale…
Exhale. The base of your head.
Inhale…
Exhale. The crown of your head.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your forehead.
Inhale…
Exhale. Your cheeks
Inhale…
Exhale. Your jaw.
Take a few more breaths – keep the pace consistent. Let your mind recognize your body entirely. Are there any parts of you that didn’t collapse as completely as the rest? Do you still feel strain or tense anywhere particularly? Give those parts of you an extra few exhales to collapse.
Stay here as long as you like. When you’re ready, return to your day.
