Embrace the Little Things
Make today about taking time to stop and smell the roses.
As you go about your day, keep your eye out for little opportunities and as you stumble upon them, challenge yourself to participate in these tiny moments that you otherwise might just saunter by!
Maybe you plan to go for a walk today. If on your walk, you see hopscotch on the sidewalk a child has drawn in chalk, seize the chance to play. Likely, you won’t have to go out of your way or slow your stride to participate, so allow yourself to take the moment to play.
Maybe you find a path that intrigues your curiosity. Maybe it’s a path you’ve passed on by before. Why not find out what happens if you take it?
Maybe you’ll stumble upon vending machines for stickers or bubblegum – you know, the ones you haven’t used since you were a kid? If you do, why don’t you go ahead and get yourself a sticker?
Perhaps you’ll hear your cat meow for you while you’re scrolling through your phone. Maybe it’s a sound that’s normally easy to disregard… Today, why don’t you hear that meow as a ‘hello,’ and take that chance to set your phone down and spend some time with your kitty?
When your coworker asks how you are, see if you can answer in a full sentence. See how much detail you’re willing to offer in response to the offer they’ve gifted you.
Pick the pretty flower you wander by, let the ladybug you found on a branch dance around your hand, or stop and read the synopsis of the book, or article in the magazine that caught your attention while you shopped.
Today, slow your hurry and view the world around you as offers you can choose to accept. See how many opportunities you can engage with before your slumber.

I absolutely love this suggestion. By extension it involves gratitude. I believe gratitude is the single most important treasure to find, keep and continue in life. It is recognizing the little things that you notice the fuels this. Gratitude gives meaning, purpose and incentive. Smell the roses, enjoy that a sky was built beautiful blue and breath in that glorious air! Great post!
