Clean That Corner
It is time to confront that crevasse; that nook, that cranny, that corner, closet, junk drawer, growing pile pushed in the corner… That place in your space you actively ignore. Whatever area you designate to be a spot where things go to be forgotten, today’s the day to tackle it.
Don’t worry about anything else – you don’t have to make the whole day about cleaning. You can avoid the dishes in the sink, the floors that need to be swept, the laundry in the basket… Today is not for cleaning your whole house, it is only for that spot.
Take everything out of it! Go through items individually, and decide what you really need. Decide what is actually worth keeping… Find where it truly belongs.
If having a spot for the miscellaneous works well for you, and that spot, in particular, is worth keeping, keep it! Organize that space to be user-friendly and easy to navigate. Create the space to be easy on the eye, and layout the items within it to be quick to find.
If some of the things there are best suited to remain there, leave them! Make it your goal to have no more than half of the things you decide to keep remain in that spot. Be sure to choose items to remain according to what you will remember to be there when they’re needed. Find a more suitable spot for at least half of what you decide to keep.
Today is the day to confront that space. It won’t take long and you know it. Once it’s done, you will feel relieved to no longer have that cloud looming over you.
