10 Minutes for Personal Care

Take an extra ten minutes to tend to your hygiene today. 

Don’t rush through washing your face. Lather the soap tenderly and carefully trace the bubbles around your cheekbones, across your forehead, and along your jaw. Let the warm water run along the bridge of your nose and pour off your chin into the sink. Maybe warm the towel you will use to dry off, press it gently against your skin, and stay with the warmth for a minute or two.

Be diligent with flossing your teeth. Weave the floss gently between each tooth, and bring your awareness to your tooth’s shape and where it fits in your mouth.

Brush your hair mindfully – don’t rush. Start at the ends and slowly work your way to the roots. Allow the bristles to massage your scalp, and pull the brush slowly through the shafts of your hair. Brush your hair for longer than it takes for all the knots to become untangled, and enjoy the peace of the brush moving gently through your locks.

Take your time selecting your perfume or cologne, pick a scent that doesn’t typically find its way into your daily roster.

Apply lotion to your skin – be extra mindful in covering each curve and corner. Massage it gently into your body and allow yourself to be soothed as you carefully cover your skin.

Take an extra ten minutes to tend to your hygiene today, and allow the feeling you gain from it to carry you through your day.
